"Home Theater Projector Lens"

Projector lens is a key component of a home theater projector since all of the video signals have to pass through the eye of the lens.

Lenses assist in guiding or otherwise training the beam to the exact location on the screen through their refractive properties. With light beams bending when passing from one medium to the other, appropriately designed lenses can control the degree of refraction or 'bend' of the light beams and hence prove instrumental in guiding the light beams to the desired location.

The lens used in home theater projectors plays a crucial role in affecting the contrast ratio and picture resolution of projectors, particularly the LCD projector, which, prior to the development of the dynamic iris, was susceptible to problems relating to picture resolution. Thus projector lens, with its inherent properties that allow it to control the volume and even intensity of the light beams, are an important part of the home theater projector and hence have to be maintained carefully for trouble free performance. Potential problems in lenses arise out of dust accumulation requiring cleaning or replacement of air filters.

Where the lens itself is dirty, focus and zoom functions may be affected, requiring realignment of optics to avoid loss of contrast and sharpness in the projected images. While preventive care of lens require periodic cleaning and alignment of the lenses along with zoom and focus checks, on occasions, the lens itself may have to be replaced when permanently affected by fungus or permanently out of focus. Replacement lens for projectors are normally easy to source, though installation may require services of trained or technical personnel.
